Welcome to the Deep River Symphony Orchestra
The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in seeing with new eyes.
First, we thank everyone for their support last season. Our concert series was very well attended and culminated in the already legendary Carmina Burana performances in May this year.
We have received some very positive feedback from the Ontario Arts Council, especially relating to how we are upholding the vision of being a “Community Orchestra”. We involve players from a very wide age range, we have a strong subscriber base, we have a low ticket price for students, we have strong levels of private and business financial support and so on. In other words, we try to engage as many people in our community in the music as players, as audience and as supporters.
Now we want you to enter the musical landscape of Childs Auditorium in Deep River for our 2011-2012 season and to see with new eyes, or as I should really say to hear with new ears. We have five concerts for you: Erika Raum returns with her violin in October; our Deep River tenor, Kevin Myers will perform for us in May; you can hear Mozart’s Requiem with the Deep River Choral Group in December; and join Kirsten Waymann, violin, in February. And for that cold Saturday afternoon in January we will welcome you to our traditional Baroque matinee.
We look forward to sharing with you the adventure which is live music.
