Welcome to the Deep River Symphony OrchestraWelcome to the 57th season of orchestral music in Deep River. The Deep River Symphony Orchestra will present a five-concert series for your enjoyment, opening on Saturday 17 October with Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 featuring Jamie Parker, together with Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 (“The Great”). Our program will continue with concerts in December (Beethoven Choral Fantasy and Greig: Peer Gynt Suites 1 & 2); January (pieces from the choral Baroque), February (including pieces by Rossini, Karam, Marcello/Casale and Brahms Symphony No. 4 with Marian Arthur on cello) and closing with our performance on Saturday 1 May when we feature two local young soloists Sheela Sur (soprano, Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate) and Megan Morris (bassoon, Weber’s Hungarian Andante and Rondo). This final concert will close our season with Grofe – Grand Canyon Suite. The DRSO is a community orchestra which consistently attracts an enthusiastic audience of all ages. We are well supported by the generosity of the Government of Ontario through an annual Ontario Arts Council grant, and by our many donors and sponsors. We support the development of young musicians and encourage them to join us when they are ready. We would also like to hear from other musicians who may move to the area and would like to play with us. Music lives inside of all of us, and participation in live music is a shared experience that cannot be replaced. We invite you to join us this season for music in Deep River. Charles Packer,
